Hi guys! :glomp:

EDIT: Hair is so much more fun when you can layer it on! Still not done with it, of course, but pleased so far. Also, the flash is probably the reason her right eye looks so flat. Never using flash again! :x

First things first, A huge thanks to :icontracie76stock: for the reference, which can be found here: [link] She's amazing, you guys! Really good stock, if you're looking. :)

Oh yes! My first attempt using acrylics, and my first attempt on canvas! :squee: It is so different from pencils. The best part is, you can layer paints over each other and have them look opaque! Really, really pleased with how this is turning out. No, she doesn't have eyebrows yet, hence the strange eyelid. :P

Specifics:
Time taken: So far, around 8-9 hours.

Stuff I used: 5H graphite, acrylic paints and brushes.

Size of the portrait: Around 50.4 X 33.7 cm (squared). The larger the better! :D

So, what do you think? So far so good? Not? Do let me know! Comments, critique and faves are always much appreciated, especially on WIPs when I can still make changes. :)

Thanks!
-S.

Looking good so far, I might buy some acrylics or oils sometime, It looks like it'd be fun! :) Only just spotted the eye, which looks awesome!

Thanks! :D
Oh you should! Paints are much more fun than pencils. I'd say go with acrylics over oils. They're water soluble so you don't need thinners. Plus, canvas boards are much more forgiving than is paper, so it works for me! :P

I might test on watercolours and if I don't like, I'll switch to acrylics :) Canvas feels so weird to be working on, It's always a shock to work on a piece thats standing upright! :D

Oh I'm working horizontally on a canvas pad. There's a certain satisfaction in being able to dominate your tools! :P

yeah, but it's seems more professional to have it upright :D (even if it seems impractical)
